Another one for you then is the 'Whois' utility to perform owner
identification of web sites (or to determine if a domain name is available).
This one's in the UK, hosted by uklinux.net:

A very bare page - the whois query is all that's on it. It returns all the
standard info.
They also do a rather nice UK mirror of the Tucows linux software / file
archive, which can reduce the transatlantic traffic nicely when I *just have
to get* the latest version of a massive download!
