It looks like I confused some people with the discription of my problem.
When I said the Arachne covered 4/5 th of my screen from right to left I
should have added the remaining 5th ( about 1 1/2 inch) of my screen is
blank (black).
It was suggested that I go to setup and manually enter my video setup.
I had accepted Arachne's suggestion to run with vesa 800x600. I have
been very satisfied with this setup except for the lost 1/5 th of
my screen. When I input vga 800x600 I get a full screen but the
resolution is not as good as the vesa setup. By loss of resolution I
mean the backround swirls on the desktop screen do not display the amount
of shading that vesa does. This also applies the menu buttons and so
forth.
I will play around with the settings of my AGP card and Arachne and
see what I can come up with. Thanks for your help in setting me on my way
to finding a solution. I'll let you know when I get lost again. ;-)
Oh, one more thing. Will renning Arachne on a dos partition of her own
help make things easier/better. (I'm running MS-dos under Win95)
