Worth a look -- it's about getting dumbass answers after
helpfully pointing out a JS error, with some comments from
webmasters about the importance of answering mail promptly
and using it to monitor a site from the users' points of view.

Quotes, resulting from a search for "hate javascript":
Ah, young webmaster...
java leads to shockwave.
Shockwave leads to realaudio.
And realaudio leads to suffering.
"This is my bare bones home page. It isn't flashy or exciting. I don't want
it to be flashy or exciting. I wan't it to have useful information, and very
little else. I find it very annoying when I try to view a web site, and it
takes forever to load. First it loads the beautiful moving gif banner ads,
then it loads some dumb javascript crap that usually crashes my computer.
Then lastly the text. All I really came for is the text. I find it offensive
that I must wait so long to view unoriginal crap, just so someone can appear
to be 'savvy'. Most of the time the flashy webpages should be stamped
"certified 100% content free."
"i can't believe how much information i've digested lately. i think that i
can safely say now that i'm throughly comfortable with javascript. and let
me say that i hate javascript! too many worries about whether or not the
browser is properly implementing it and what have you. just make the server
do the work, i say. so if i had to choose between scripting languages, i
would say that perl still wins out. plus javascript is still pretty limited
in what it can do. you know? i think it's kind of weak, and not worth the
attention i've given it...however, work is now forcing me to port all my
perl code to javascript. doesn't that sound wonderful? oh, and what if
javascript can't do something i want? like grabbing web pages, for example?
then just don't support that part of my perl code into JS. that means that
about 50% of all of my lovely perl code isn't going to make the transition
over. so much wasted effort! but that's ok, less work for me, right?"
Some ammo to store away in a dry place...

Jake
