My latest "pet": A nokia 9110 phone. Why is it related here?
Well, for those who are not familiar with it - this phone is almost
as big as a brick. And for a reason.

Its a 486 PC.

Well, not exactly, but close. :)

Basicly: This cellphone is a PC & Nokia cellphone hybrid. CPU
is an AMD 486 processor, OS is an embadded ROM-DOS. The shell
used is GEOS, however with some hacking you can put a COMMAND.COM
interpreter and "drop" to DOS.

Just one proof that this little OS still alive and well around us. :)

An intresting note - although one of the software availble for this
phone is a Web browser for GEOS, the browser itself is very premitive.
Arachne beats it without a problem at all.

With Michael mentioning the idea of doing an embadded version of
Arachne...
how about this platform? It would mean, however, that he will have to
"port" Arachne to GEOS enviroment. Although there is a normal DOS
enviroment avaible, the phone options (thus, SMS access, and all modem
functions) are "secret" and embedded in GEOS. Once in DOS, you cannot
use
them. GEOS must be loaded.

Just dropping an idea. :)

Also, a new 9120 is going to be released.. no more PC based arctiture.
They're moving to ARM CPU, and to Symian OS. Still, the 9110 is all
over, and its going to stay for a long time...
