Thanks Laurie, except for the machine #2 above, your tests have
confirmed the superiority of PC-DOS 3.3 for use in speeding up
whatever hardware can be reasonably converted to it.

Now if only we had a 100% equivalent that recognized >32Mb partitions.

But I haven't the faintest idea why that 486sx is so slow. :(
