I tried the windows version of the Mozilla browser (Release 1), and, as usual with newer creations, it is not quite ready for prime time in a few ways: I noticed, as did several others various delays and slowness in retrieving/rendering data, compared to programs like arachne it is quite memory hungry (not suitable for survpcs), there are problems typing URLs in the text window, one needs to download a heafty Sun package (or equivalent) to obtain java functionality, and so on. Not that such matters will not be addressed and dealt with in the course of development. However, the philosophy behind Mozilla may require higher end hardware/software resources because of certain inefficiencies in creating environments that quickly adapt to several platforms. There may still be a place in the sun for a lean, efficient arachne targeted at just one or two OSs.
