This seems to confirm the results of my tests. Namely that:
The problem is not with any particular hardware setup or with any particular configuration. The problem is an incompatabilty between the drivetypes function of wwwman.exe and the drivetypes function of IO.SYS for MsDos v7.x I tracked it right down to IO.SYS by using 4dos.com as the command intrerpreter and doing a step-by-step configuration with nothing loaded but IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS (no memory manager, no isfhlp, no mouse. The only line from config.sys for which I answered 'yes' was "shell=4dos.com etc, etc, etc") Since MSDOS.SYS is nothing more than a text file with a few boot options in it. We know that this has nothing to do with reading drivetypes.<g> On Fri, 13 Dec 2002 14:29:54, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > Here are some more test results of the Arachne 'your computer' > function:, Mi-œ` > a) MS-DOS 6.0 on different machines: works > b) MS-DOS 7.10 (AKA the DOS from W98) on different machines: blocks > c) When I boot to the MS-DOS 7.10 system files with dosemu > under Linux (Slackware 3.5, X window): works > The W98 GUI is not present on my machine.
