Bastiaan, Thumbing thru a computer catalog today, I saw a Zoom <www.zoom.com> PCI modem *with controller* for about US$80.00. The controllerless version was about US$20.00.
So, it appears that PCI real modems are out there. It might take a while to find one at a reasonable price. Both this computer and my office computer have PCI video cards and both computers are pure DOS. I found a site <www.goldenhawk.com> the other day that has DOS CD-RW programs, one for 16-bit and another for 32-bit DOS. They also have a very extensive list of supported CDROM recorders.
