The service is free. Nothing to sign up for and no software to download and install and configure. You don't even need to have a so-called "faxmodem". The TPC sendfax system is compatible with all classes of fax machines. Works with Arachne. It will work either with Arachne's email program or with the www interface. Using the TPC sendfax service I can send a fax even with my Nokia cell phone. When the TPC sendfax system is used with Arachne's email client it can send a fax having graphics. When used with the www interface it can send a fax having only ascii text. It doesn't work for sending faxes to fax machines in some area codes. The TPC fax web site has a very long list of area codes that their system is networked with. When you use the TPC sendfax system they will send in addition to your fax, a one page cover sheet having an advertisement for some business conveniently located in the same area code as the recipient fax machine. Also the TPC sendfax system will send the user by email a status report on the fax, whether successfully sent, or line busy, or line out of service, or line answered by a human or whatnot. The service will automatically make a couple of more attempts to send the fax if the first attempt is not successful.
