Hi,
I tried the 3.0 alpha. Seems like the difference has shrunken to 20 % (from
35 %).
$ docker run -it -e ARANGO_NO_AUTH=1 -p 9000:8529 arangodb/arangodb-preview
2016-05-25T20:25:22Z [1] INFO ArangoDB 3.0.0-beta1 [linux] 64bit, using
VPack 0.1.30, ICU 54.1, V8 5.0.71.39, OpenSSL 1.0.1k 8 Jan 2015
...
$ node bench.js arango
Got 400 Average: 31 Now: 39 Min: 23 Max: 139
$ node bench.js mongo
Got 400 Average: 25 Now: 18 Min: 17 Max: 331
("Got 400" means fetched 400 documents)
Well... it's better, but still probably a noticeable difference. This is
just a benchmark, but as a percentage (35 % earlier) it seemed to translate
into milliseconds that was a considerable difference ( = noticeable). This
will probably be noticeable still, as well.
But of course, it's better. Wonder what is still creating this 20 %
difference -- is it perhaps the http transfer method?
