Hold the horses. The problem also occurs from a blank Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS (HVM), SSD Volume Type - ami-2d39803a from AWS Marketplace (c4.xlarge). The one you see on page 1 in Launch wizard Quick Start in the AWS Console us-east1.
It is clearly not a ArangoDB problem. However, if I figure this out, I'll make an update here since it affects the official(?) ArangoDB release on AWS.
