Hi Johan, sorry can't say much about comparing Magento2 & ArangoDB specifically.
Would just like to point out the flexibility your customer gets with ArangoDB in combination with the Foxx framework. Webshops and ecommerce are a common use case for ArangoDB, especially because you can build recommendation engines ontop its graph capabilities and recommenders can have a significantly positive impact on revenue. Extending the functionality and capabilities of the shop based on ArangoDB (e.g. new features, BA/BI) to the individual needs is comparably easy by leveraging Foxx microservices. Many of our customers use the Foxx framework for such extensions and can spin these service up easily. Connecting third party tools is also easily doable via HTTP. With the upcomming 3.3 release we also integrated a "hot standby" feature with which single instance setups can benefit a lot in terms of availability. So in the case of the leader machine goes down, the follower takes over seamlessly and the application can just continue serving the users. https://www.arangodb.com/2017/10/milestone2-arangodb33-new-data-replication/ Can't say anything about the effort included to setup the webshop in Magento2 vs. ArangoDB though but maybe it is also saving some time that ArangoDB is schemaless, as your client can just put the data into ArangoDB without defining the DB schema.
