If your application is known to perform well with mmfiles (the pre-existing storage engine) you can stay with that - thats the reason why the default is *auto == mmfiles* - so users have to choose a different storage engine. You may want to test the behaviour and performance of your application by benchmarking before / after switching it. https://github.com/arangodb/arangodb/blob/devel/Installation/debian/templates.in is the file containing all questions.
