Unless I've completely buggered up the CVS repository (a quick browse through the CVS web interface suggests I haven't), there should now be a branch "arcem-fast" with your changes in. I thought this was a good idea as (a) I didn't want your changes to be lost and (b) I was trying to fix my pointer code and didn't want to lose that either. Trunk happily remains intact.
