Yeah, it does work. I had a read a few posts earlier saying that spellcheck was "broken" in libreoffice 3.6, but it turns out it was all hyperbole, they were just referring to this bug which is certainly not totally broken spellcheck: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53006
