Hello,

Perhaps you could manually download the package tarballs (from the Arch
official repositories web interface) and extract the pertinent files from
them where they belong.

As a last resort, you could boot an Arch Live environment and use pacstrap
after mounting the relevant partitions:
# pacstrap /mnt pacman e2fsprogs

BTW, i686 is a 32-bit architecture. Even if your processor supports the
x86_64 architecture, what matters is what your OS was built for; if you're
using i686 packages, your system is running in 32-bit mode.

Thanks. As I can't login into the machine, I will try this on tuesday, when I'm back at my work computer.

Best regards,

Heiko
