Good afternoon list,

After the success of FSF librelocal in London earlier this year, with a
turnout of 13 people, there will be another meetup on the 8th August,
details below. I will be taking lead on this meetup as the organiser
for the previous will unfortunately be busy.

For the previous meetup the organiser went out of pocket to book a
private room, however this is not feasible for me to do. Most places
in London which I could reserve would either cost money (and a lot of
it) or were not going to fit our needs.

Details:

Date: Saturday 8th August 2026
Location: The Metropolitan Bar, Baker Street [1]
Time: 1pm onwards (come and leave as you wish)

I will be in a EuroBSDCon 2024 tshirt, the artwork is at the top of the
archived website [2], and THERE WILL BE STICKERS. I am hoping that the
FSFE stickers arrive in time, however I will also have XMPP stickers as
I am an XSF (XMPP Standards Foundation) member.

If one of the Arch Linux staff wants to send us stickers to distribute
for outreach (we already have a few arch users attending which I
contacted before making this public) please off-list me ASAP.

The meetup is mainly to gauge interest. We are a small group of us
wanting to make this more regular, and have our own comms for it, so
depending on the turnout for this will determine the future of a
potential FOSS group in London. If it does happen, we will definitely
be looking for partnerships with potential venues so that we are
chancing having the space we need.

I apologise for the poor timing, with froscon and EuroBSDCon coming up
this is the last weekend before October we could organise it, and I
didn't want to leave it until October.

Anyone interested in helping out, feel free to reach out.

Thanks for reading,
