In my case /boot (not /mnt/boot/) it looks like this: $ mount | grep -e boot -e efi -e nvme efivarfs on /sys/firmware/efi/efivars type efivarfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime) /dev/nvme1n1p2 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime)
I have an unmounted fat32 partition containing a directory EFI/. I found the migration from legacy BIOS to UEFI so dreadful that I (it's a multi-boot machine) installed Xubuntu and let the Xubuntu installer handle all that EFI stuff, and then I switched to Arch Linux's GRUB (even though I wanted to keep using syslinux, but that's another story) and installed chaotic-aur/memtest86-efi (I only mount the FAT32 partition containing the EFI/ directory for memtest86-efi updates)
