All,
Update tonight pulled in Firefox 157. It will not play youtube video
(e.g. BBC Dark Energy documentary). When it attempts to play the video,
one CPU core is pegged at 100% continually (Isolated Web Co) and the
page takes minutes to load. The Isolated Web Co process stays pegged at
100% very much appearing like a race condition.
Logically, I simply downgraded to 156 still in the cache only to find
my profile corrupted by the 157 update and unusable with 156 anymore.
If you rely on youtube, you may want to add firefox to the Ignore
line in pacman.conf until this gets figured out. If you launch it once,
your profile will be irreversibly updated to the 157 format and then you
are stuck without your passwords, etc.. if you have to downgrade.
Sure wish I would have known. Frustrating...
I am using firefox version 157 on a raspberrypi 5 16 GB amd I have no
issues playing youtube videos except for some of the commercial movies
that the archlinuxarm doesn't have the codecs for.
Is this the one that doesn't play?
What Is Dark Energy? | Space Mysteries | Earth Science

It plays for me no issues.
