Hi, I can't answer all your questions, since I only build packages for my own use and don't really care about conventions.

Actually, there shouldn't be any conflicts with the "_" prefix, and you might need to use your own variables anyway. In other words, it's not a problem to use "_variables". > Is there a better way to package a project from > git? > > Anyway, I have noticed now there is a more traditional source.tar.gz. As for git, if a tarball isn't available, you can still download a specific version/commit using git: For the latest release, https://github.com/nordstjernen-web/northstar-web-browser/releases/tag/1.0.16 : _commit=bdbafc6 source=('git+https://github.com/nordstjernen-web/northstar-web-browser.git#commit=$_commit') Disclaimer: I haven't done this in a long time, you have to check the wiki or the forum, but it works something like this. I know I once included a specific GTK branch in a project this way, so as far as I remember, you can also append other things besides #commit, maybe #branch, #tag? Regards, Ralf
