Arnuld: can you restate your question? It's not clear whether you mean use a different device or (in the context of the thread) a different filesystem. The original question was: Can one convert from Reiser to ext3? --- the assumption is that the question really is: Can one convert from Reiser to ext3 *in place* ? ... the answer to that is no, at least not using standard tools. The best way to use another filesystem (especially if you're talking about your root filesystem) is to backup the current fs into another partition/drive/file, create the new filesystem on the original partition, then restore from the backup. This is most reliably done using a live cd, the arch install cd or another install on the system.
