i used Arch i686 on my AMD64. when i installed GNOME on Arch i686, it went too slow (on 1 GB of RAM). have you seen WIndows *slow-ness* after infected by *spyware*. i was getting the same slow-ness. applications like Firefox, GNOEM-Terminal were taking too long to open. i ahve removed Arch now but still i wanted to know the reason of my trouble.
