since you asked this question: either you are a newbie or you use some
GUI based distros like Fedora,Debian or UBUNTU.

look into the "Driver" section of your "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" file, that
will tell you. BTW, if you want to have some idea then open the shell,
do not "startx" just do this:

Xorg -configure

that will give a little idea about X
