hi.

like many of us, i lost my connexion to internet after i upgraded libpcap to
0.9.7 with a pacman -Syu the 2007-07-27
because pppd (from ppp package) was linked against libpcap 0.9.5 which was not
present anymore on my system.

Windows is usefull sometime to download an updated (the day AFTER the update
of libpcap) ppp package from an archlinux mirror when your linux distro
falied you. but i digress....

usv on #archlinux suggest that some kind of safety net would be in place to
prevent such bad timing during update.

like another kind of dependancy that will alert the dev to update also another
package that the first package depends upon...

and at the very least, it will happen once but not twice with that kind of
dependancy warning in place.

because i fear the same will happen the next time libpcap will be updated :-(

p.s:
today i got kaffeine not working after an update because it uses libxcb but
xine-lib was NOT compiled (until the update to 1.1.7-3) with libxcb support

please stop that mess.
i know it's holiday time but ..... i don't want to spend all my holiday to fix
a broken arch :-)
