I'm using XFCE + Beryl (composite enabled in X)

in Xorg logs there are no (EE)rrors. Only warnings i get are:

(WW) Open ACPI failed (/var/run/acpid.socket) (No such file or directory)

and

(WW) NVIDIA(0):
(WW) NVIDIA(0): No modes were requested; the default mode "nvidia-auto-select"
(WW) NVIDIA(0):     will be used as the requested mode.
(WW) NVIDIA(0):

The latter one is normal i guess...

Tho when i return to X, beryl indeed crashed and i have to restart it

Anyone had a similar problem ?

check the X logs :

 /var/log/Xorg.0.log

especially look for (EE)rrors and warnings as well as the tail of the
log after a crash of X.

what window-manager or desktop-environement do you run? any fancy
decorations, shadows, whatever (composite) enabled?

i myself have an old radeon and no experience with nvidia. if it's
nvidia specific, somebody with experience would be more help.
