AFAIK gnash is still *very* unstable and experimental. I am using the
bleeding edges on my x86_64 system, trying to see some YouTube videos
and I can report *some* success.

But it's true, it is unstable, it messes with your windows, WM,
keyboard, etc. I had this situation that gnash end up taking all my
system memory and swap, leaving my box with little room to breathe!

So the options are: use the Adobe 32bits proprietary closed source 
flash plugin, or wait (and contribute) on a better gnash.
