Going off on a tangent a bit here, but regarding the Eclipse package specifically: FYI - it has been delayed for 2 reasons regarding problems building the new 3.3 package: 1) difficulties building the package altogether 2) difficulty getting the package built with support for JDK1.4 (see these links if you want all the gory details: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=153087, https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=206479, http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/linux-distros-dev/msg00289.html) As a heavy Eclipse user on Arch I've been trying to assist the dev Paul Mattal with this, and have been encouraging him to hold the package pending a resolution on issue #2 (since it would break JDK1.4 support in the package) - so this is all partially my fault. But perhaps we ought to just go ahead and release it anyway since 1.4 is pretty old and many (most?) people don't seem to care about it. In any case, this is really probably a communication issue more than anything else. People might not be so inclined to go and build workaround packages if they knew *why* the package was being held and therefore *when* they might expect an update.
