Christine I would like to say THANK YOU for the technical support we have been getting from LYRASIS for our ongoing efforts to migrate from AT. Our journey to migrate from AT to ASpace has many obstacles partially because the size of our collections as well as some extremely large EAD files. Technical staff Blake Carve and Mark Cooper have been knowledgeable and effective in helping us out. I wish the migration scripts can be improved and allow the migration to the more resent ASpace version directly instead of multiple scripts to step through each ASpace versions. If we have more straight forward migration routines, we will have more new archives going live with ASpace. Our technical team George Bowman and Nancy Kennedy will likely to publish our lessons learned after we complete our migration. This may help others in some ways. Thank you for your great support!

(This is a benefit of ArchivesSpace membership – more information on the process is available at http://archivesspace.org/member-area/technical-support/.) Please just email us at archivesspaceh...@lyrasis.org<mailto:archivesspaceh...@lyrasis.org> if you decide you need that kind of assistance. In this case, that would be 1.5.4 and 2.1.2 . You can also look at the release notes for the point releases and see if any of the bug fixes seem significant or necessary. But when in doubt, I'ld go for the latest minor release in a series. The UPGRADING_2.1.0.md doc: https://github.com/archivesspace/archivesspace/blob/master/UPGRADING_2.1.0.md says that migrating from 1.4.2 or lower REQUIRES an intermediate upgrade to something between 1.5.0 and 2.0.1. But due to some problems we've seen from the container migration, see email thread from back in January with Subject: Indexer Errors in 1.5.2 http://lyralists.lyrasis.org/pipermail/archivesspace_users_group/2017-January/thread.html and probably some other threads, I recommend migrating first to 1.5.x and fixing all of the container issues before upgrading again. Going from 1.4.2 to 2.0.x without fixing the problems caused the indexer to break, but made it more difficult to find the problem resources. I don't find a 'database.dat' file anywhere in my distribution or anywhere that a file with that names is required. What error are you seeing and on what step? Did you run the scripts/setup-database.{sh,bat} command ? -- Steve Majewski / UVA Alderman Library ________________________________ From: archivesspace_users_group-boun...@lyralists.lyrasis.org<mailto:archivesspace_users_group-boun...@lyralists.lyrasis.org> <archivesspace_users_group-boun...@lyralists.lyrasis.org<mailto:archivesspace_users_group-boun...@lyralists.lyrasis.org>> on behalf of Kutzuba, Jamie <kutz...@hws.edu<mailto:kutz...@hws.edu>> Sent: Thursday, September 7, 2017 3:42:57 PM To: Archivesspace Users Group Subject: Re: [Archivesspace_Users_Group] Help with Upgrades Hi Tara- We also experienced the unzipping issue with 1.5.0. I sent out the previous email this morning. We need some help upgrading from 1.4.2. In the process of using the installation links available, none of the links are working. Where can we find a clean installation file to take us from 1.4.2 to 2.1.2 We understand we may need to run two installations to get us from 1.4 to 2.1 But we cannot find installation files that work. The zip file for 1.5.0 will not properly unzip without errors. The zip file for 2.0.0 unzips but appears to be incomplete: missing set up database.dat file that we need. Thank you for any help you can give. We are at a stand still until we get some help with upgrade installation. Hoping some can answer my question about upgrading to the current Archives Space version. We received the announcement for 2.1.1 and are in the process of upgrading from 1.4.2. When we go to the web site to upgrade there is now a 2.1.2. Can someone give us the best path to upgrade from 1.4.2? We were going to go from 1.4.2 to 1.5.0 then to 2.1.1 BUT now with 2.1.2 what is the best path? Can you also clarify when the My Sequel database is upgraded? We think it is 1.5.0, hence our plan, but we are not sure. Thank you so much. We are trying to complete the upgrades as soon as possible. Looking forward to hear soon. Tara Tara L.
