Hello Andrew,

Thank you very much for providing these solutions! I believe your first idea,
to manually create the resource and then transfer the child record to the new
resource, would work perfectly for our configuration. Thank you again!!

Subject: Re: [Archivesspace_Users_Group] Moving/transferring an archival object
as its own resource record

It would be possible to manually create a resource to replace the first
archival object, then use the API to transfer all the archival objects
descended from it to the new resource. Whether that is an option for you, or
not, I don't know.

An easier alternative, but one that would change all the PUI URLs of all the
descendant archival objects, would be to export as EAD, rearrange that outside
ArchivesSpace, then import it as a new resource.

Andrew.

Hello all!

I am looking for a way to move an archival object (with child records) up to
the first level as its own resource record. I know that I can transfer an
archival object to an accession, but I've had information disappear when doing
so and am hesitant to use this method.

Thank you in advance for any help with this question!
