Hello all!

I am also facing an update with my Ariel computer, however we are
currently running Ariel 3.3 and I have Ariel 3.4 in the hopper (so to
speak) so that I can possibly upgrade at the same time.

Any advice on how I should prepare before taking the plunge?

Thanks!

Use the "databasebackuprestore.exe" in the Ariel folder. Save it to a
USB
drive. Also copy all log, tif, ini and txt files to retain any
customization. Load Ariel from scratch, again run the
"databasebackuprestore.exe" and overwrite the other files. And a
recommendation, if you are still running XP, disable the Windows Image
Acquisition (WIA) in the Component Services under Administrator Tools in
the
Control Panel.

==============================

Dear Ariel colleagues,

I have been notified by our IT department that in the next couple of
days they will be replacing the computer on which I run Ariel with a new

computer. I have delayed during this for the last couple of years, but
now there is no choice. Do those of you who have done this before have
any advice to give me? Is there a way of moving Ariel to a new computer

without having to install it from scratch? We use 4.1.1 and it was a
nightmare getting it installed several years ago. Can you save folders
and put them on the new computer? We will keep the same CDkey and the
same IP address.

Any information will be greatly appreciated. I will look at the Ariel
list archives also. Thanks very much.
