Thanks everyone for your very helpful responses! Sounds like we should keep running Ariel v3.4 on the W2000 PC and purchase the Minolta PS7000. But our tech support reminded me that our campus is upgrading to Windows 7,. Is anyone running Ariel 3.4 or 4.1.1 on a Window 7 operating system? How is it working for you? This setup is working fine for us. We like the scanner itself very much. The functions and image quality are very nice. We purchased it several years ago, with a maintenance plan, and have not had any breakdowns. However, we have avoided upgrading the Ariel version and Windows operating system, because in our testing things have not worked to our satisfaction. Although technically compatible, the workflow changes that result from using PS7000, Ariel 4.1.1, and XP are very cumbersome. In particular, it takes multiple clicks to scan every page, and there is no way to preview page scans. In the case of a long document, we found that scanning the entire thing, only to find out at the end that the scans were flawed, was not a viable workflow for us. If you have any additional questions, I'd be happy to answer them. We are using the PS 7000 Scanner by Minolta and LOVE it. We use it with Ariel 3.4. We have a maintenance plan for the simple fact that if a bulb blows out on the machine, you are looking at the cost of the maintenance plan to replace it. Our IT department installed the scanner on our Ariel PC. No success with operating on an XP machine, nor installing Ariel 4.1.1. That was a nightmare. I hope this helps. We will attend a demo of the PS7000 tomorrow and I'd like feedback from the listserv: . Has anyone run the PS7000 with Ariel 3.4 on a Windows 2000 PC? Was it compatible? . What about the PS7000 with Ariel 4.1.1 on an XP operating system? (We purchased 4.1.1 but haven't upgraded.) . Are you satisfied with the scanner? . What problems have you experienced? . Did a Minolta rep actually install the scanner on your Ariel PC? . Did you purchase a scanner maintenance plan?
