Ariel is still working for us,COV, both sending and receiving. We also send and
receive by E-mail and Article Exchange. We are preparing to migrate to ILLIAD
so will also use Odyssey after that. We will evaluate our use of ARIEL after
our migration is fully complete. As of today it is still working well for us.

Duquesne University (DUQ) still actively uses Ariel for both receiving and
sending of articles.

Subject: [ARIE-L] Anybody still depend on Ariel for receiving ILL articles?
Arie-L members:

At the Library of Congress, we have always made an effort to accommodate as
many different platforms for electronic document delivery as feasible. However,
there comes a time when we must evaluate that feasibility.

Ariel Interlibrary Loan software is the case in point now. We would like to
request that members of this list who still rely on Ariel for receipt of ILL
articles, or other surrogate documents, please speak up! We are well aware of
the diminished user base for Ariel, vs. Odyssey, Article Exchange, or any other
means of transmitting electronic documents (like PDF email attachments).

Our question, then, is whether, with our own restrictive budgetary guidelines,
we have to make special arrangements to support Ariel in a Windows XP
environment, after the rest of the institution has migrated to Windows 7? As
you know, Microsoft's Windows XP drop-dead date is April, 2014. Continued
support for Ariel after that time may not be possible. Should we "pull the
plug" sooner? Please respond.

Awaiting discussion on this list. Thank you for your participation.
