IIUC the blog that you envision is meant as an Aries project blog?
Yes
If that's the case, I strongly recommend having it at
http://blogs.apache.org/aries - this will make it more visible
alongside other Apache blogs, and should help make it a group effort.
Adding it to http://planet.apache.org/ as well is certainly a good
idea.
It would make it more visible to people that already know about Apache blogs. However, I think the intention of such a blog to is communicate the developments and successes of the Aries incubator to a wider community of users and potential users. For this to be successful the most important factor is how easy it is for contributors to use - both the quantity and quality of content will actually determine the success. It is primarily for this reason that I suggested Blogger - I have used Roller and found that it was hard - to the point where I was discouraged from posting.

There is no Apache policy that I can find that mandates the use of Apache blogs, so, given the precedent already set by Tuscany and Synapse, and for the reasons I have stated above, I would still prefer to use Blogger.

In then end, I'd really like the community of people that might use the blog to come in with opinions - I'm only one of the people that might use it. Maybe it's just as straightforward as asking people to vote?
