The definition below does more than define the term Organization ID/Org ID. It also defines who is entitled to receive an Org ID and, effectively, who is entitled to receive resources from ARIN.
Maybe defining who is entitled to receive an Org ID is unnecessary. However, if necessary, we must discuss who should be entitled to an Org ID and, therefore, resources from ARIN. According to John Sweeting's email, "Individuals may as “Sole Proprietors” receive resources from ARIN for use in the operation of their business operations." Others think this is an unnecessary restriction and that individuals should be able to receive resources without the status of sole proprietor. To have an informed opinion about this issue, I need to understand better the business or legal purpose of ARIN's current sole proprietor requirement.
