We've come to the part where it is decided Monique must go home to her island and Chantel arranges for Anna to go along with them as Edward's governess. They will be aboard The Serene Lady with Redvers being the captain. Even though Anna knows it's wrong to love a married man, she is excited over the prospect of being on the ship with him. She gets along well with Edward, though she isn't comfortable in Monique's company. Anna also worries about Chantel and Rex. Rex is supposed to meet with Miss Derringham in Australia to renew his courtship of her. Anna fears Chantel will be devastated when he leaves the ship and worries that Chantel is covering up her feelings. Anna acquires another admirer while on the ship. It is Dick Callum, the purser. He lets Anna know right away that he doesn't approve of Redvers and tells her about the scandal involving The Secret Woman. A fortune in diamonds disappeared the night The Secret Woman blew up and Redvers was suspected of foul play. He fears Anna is falling for Redver's charm and tells her Redvers was a lady's man with many women. When Anna sees Redvers, he lets her know immediately that he is in love with her. Anna, feeling guilty over Monique, refuses to talk about it. Later on Monique senses something is between them and creates a huge scene, which brings on one of her attacks. There is so much more here and if you feel like talking about anything I may not have mentioned, feel free to. I usually despise men who play around on their wives but I couldn't hate Redvers for some reason. I guess I felt like he was tricked into marrying Monique and I thought she was unstable. I admire Anna for not giving in to temptation. How would you have felt if she had? I would have liked getting to know Redvers better so I could know his motives. I didn't care for Dick Callum at all and was suspicious of him.
