Lee is using the right kernel but he's using the kernel modules of Armedslack, They certainly won't work because they're compiled for other boards (kernel-modules-kirkwood-2.6.33.5_kirkwood-arm-1.tgz and kernel-modules-versatile-2.6.33.5_versatile-arm-1.tgz ). Obviously Debian/Ubuntu use a different INIT (on the x86 Ubuntu doesn;t even use INIT), so the question is: in which initialization script on Armedslack should the modules be loaded? I would suggest to make a new script (or edit one if already there) called "rc.modules.local" and load the modules that Lee should have copied to "/lib/modules/2.6.31.14.22-efikamx" . -- Ottavio A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
