Hey Jagdeep....

bro your mail is full of technical goodness man...

there is so much i, and many others like me i firmly believe within the group, would love to know and delve more into things like this. i certainly would!

i feel that is would be quite worthwhile if we are able to find more and analyse, to the best of our musical abilities, ARR's technical aspect of his musical wonders....it is in itself a whole new world altogether.... it's not everyone's cup a tea i agree, but worth every discussion.

keep those analytical mails going mate....

cheers...
rishnel

hi "Sam Sujith" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>,
i am into music production and programming .. i compose write sing play my own songs ........ i have korg triton Le and Planning to get the Yamaha motif ES6 .
i record with cubase SX and Adobe Audition( It is the most underrated Software buddy !!!) ...i use reason and frooty loops for the drums and percussions. and a maya sound card.
Ok So about BOSS using commercially avlble samples .. i wud like 2 say that as every one has access to those samples ... he shud not b using themn as they make him less exclusive ....
and  he does  not used many of them now.
but he has  definately used many truly rare and exclusive samples....
 few examples r:-
1. kabhi neem neem ----yuva _---the whole bengali folk rhydhm is a "commercially available  sample"( CAS- lets call it that for convenience.) i have heard it in many serials and songs too ...
2. ale ale---baba---- the same sample is used throughout the whole song  with another (self programmed??? or just other samples ???? )
3. sai yai ye ... ottam ( daud) intro has a CAS with the lion sound ....even Anand Milind have used it in a film BGM earlier than DAUD.
4.Shakalaka bebe--full rhythm is a CAS
5. aalangatti mazhai ---tenali--- full rhyhtm is a CAS.

The kannathil muthamittal sounds r synth leads from a korg or a motif... what u call a guitar tremolo may well be a a syhth lead with a dillferent arpegiator programming.
ny ways the arpegiator is a continuous automated running of keys  in a desired manner...egkannathil muthamittal From 5:38 - 5:44 in the song u can hear it clearly .
Another place where he has used such an arp is Aha Tamilamma in Kangaala Keithu Sei  0:25 - 0:36  and 2:49 - 3:15... beautiful i must say.

What i feel is that the use of arpegiators is good only if they r used in such a wonderful way....otherwise it is difficult to get rid of their techno feel .... and Boss makes them sound as earthy as a wonderful ethnic instrument... there in lies his greatness.
Chill.
JAgdeep Singh.
