HI this is the 1st time im posting a message in this group... but i ve been watching the proceedings for some time now.
1st of all this is the best group i have seen; so much passion, sincerity, love for GOOD music & sheer enthusiasm... feels great to be here. Hats off to the one(s) who started it all AND the ones who keep it going a lot of reviews i hav read on Mangal Pandey have not exactly been flattering... "Rahman is not at his best" is the verdict well, my take is.. he is a victim of his own genius to put it in simple terms: had any one else in india given these same songs on Mangal Pandey, he wud hav been called a genius & the tracks wud hav been historic but since its Rahman, even a tiny diversion from his set standards is viewed as Average Agreed that Mangal Pandey is a soundtrack that cannot be listened to in leisure like some of his other more commercial stuff... but i think ARR himself dint wanted audiences to listen to this soundtrack like some of his other stuff.The effort plainly is to create a theme for the movie & nothing else only Rahman cud hav so selflessly sacrificed commercial elements to make music like in the good old days: music to enhance the movie, not run it close as a competition, as a comparison Im sure ARR can create songs like Rangeela, Sathiya, all his Prabhu Deva Movies etc...quite effortlessly but thats precisely why he avoids doing it: he wants to put in effort.. not do things effortlessly thats the way i see it... phew! thats a long post: sorry... but i had a lot to say :) so long then This August, Discover the Birth of Your Independence and The Magic of A.R.Rahman's Music in Mangal Pandey - The Rising http://www.risingthefilm.com http://www.mangalpandeythefilm.com Music released: Jul 14, 2005 Movie releases: Aug 12, 2005 Explore, Experience, Enjoy A.R.Rahman - The Man, The Music, The Magic.
