Hi Siddharth and all, I had dutifully dispatched this email to my brother, husband, bhabhi- all for a good cause:) i got a beautiful reply from my brother who is an even bigger arr fan than me(in fact i am one thanks to him), so much that i couldnt resist sharing it with so many absolutely crazy rahmaniacs:). enjoy:) he writes: ok, I have signed the petition.
But there are basic flaws in the petition, which should be rectified. i) Mozart: Mozart was ok, but not that great as to be compared with ARR. He followed only 1 style of music, and his real worth could have been known quickly if we had asked him to fuse his music with Indian folk, classical, tribal, or even other western styles. ii) Mozart of Asia: No one speaks of Mozart as Mozart of Europe, or Mozart of Englishmen. He is supposedly considered to be universally great. So, no logic for limiting ARR to Asia. In fact, Mozart;s music has a very narrow bandwidth in terms of style and cannot be said to be universal. (end of his response) cheers! anuja. hi grp, If u fancy ARR as the Mozart of India, sign a petition--about a year old, that's making rounds again, to bring in as many signtures to persuade sponsors to make a doccumentary called Rahman,The Mozart Of Asia at http://www.petitiononline.com/arrahman/petition.html Siddharth __________________________________ Yahoo!
