"Kangalaal Kaidhu Sei" is not composed by ARR but other assistant
composer similar to Sabesh- Murali. ARR though did the soundtrack
songs we know that.

raga will be called as "Ahir Bhairav"
> 2. Raajyama Illai Imayama � Baba - A pitying song on a person
who is in confusion whether to get throne (or) austerity.

> 1. Poomalai Vaangi Vandhan � Sindhubhairavi � A song on a
singer who lost all his fame/talent and turned into drunkard. This
song will describe how the singer was and pity him how bad he is
then.
> 2. Kanney Kalai Maane � Moondram Pirai � A song sung for a
mentally retarded in the film. A typical bed time song.

> MSV:

> 1. Ullathil Nalla Ullam � Karnan � In this scene Lord
Krishna, pities Karnan, a generous person, dying in Mahabharatha. This
is also based on the raga "Chakravaagam".
> 2. Thangathiley Oru Kurai � Baagapirivinai - A wife singing
for a handicap husband. This more a consoling song, though there is a
lot of pity in it.

> 4) Rudra � Furious

> This "Rasa" is exclusive for dance (I guess) as the furious dance
of Lord Shiva is referred to as "Rudra Thaandavam" (Fierce dance)
There are quite some songs in Tamil.

> 1) Dance by Ramya Krishnan in Padayappa. Our Boss's music in that
scene will be so apt and brilliant.
> 2) Mazhaithuli Mazhaithuli � Sangamam � Where the dancer
(Actor Rehman) forcefully dances in front of his dead father and in
front of a big crowd to beat a challenge from his opposition.

> Illayaraja:
> 1) Azhagu Malar Ada � Vaitheki Kaathirunthal � A lady
(Revathy) dancing furiously in a temple to bring his lover to normalcy
from his ill-health
> 2) Kavidhai Kelungal � Punnagai Mannan � A student dancer
(Revathy) dancing throughout the night to prove her interest to her
teacher.
> (Both the above examples are from Revathy's films. Coincidence!)

> 1) Climax music in the film � Mirudanga Chakravarthy � Here
the musician-hero (Shivaji) plays Mridangam steadily for a long time
to beat the challenge with his son (Prabhu)
> 2) Song "Pattathu Rani" � from Sivandha Mann � Here the
heroine dances with fierce and a vengeance plan to kill the "villain".
This a great Egyptian piece from MSV with an excellent orchestration
(He has used a 100 piece orchestra for this majestic song)

> 5) Veeryam � Heroic

> ARR:
> 1) "Udal Mannukku" � Iruvar - Heroic recital of a strong
poetry
> 2) "Thirupachhi Arivaala" - Taj Mahal
> 3) "Vetri Kodi Kattu" � Padayappa � In both these examples
the heroism is depicted, both in their own styles.
> 4)"Achham Achham Illai" � Indra � A great motivational song
with children, led by a lady hero!
> 5) Back-ground scores in "Muthu" and "Padayappa" (Fight
sequences in "Muthu" and Rajni's re-entry scene in Padayappa) which
takes the heroism of the person (Rajni) to extreme heights.

> Illayaraja:
> 1) "Engitta Modhathey" � Rajathi Raja � In this song the
hero (Rajni, again !!!) warns the villain about his strengths.
> 2) Re-recordings in "Aboorva Sagotharargal" � when Kamal
Hasan raises a sword to kill the persons who would have killed his
father (just before Interval of the movie)

> MSV:
> 1) "Adho Antha Paravai pola" � "Ayirathil Oruvan" - Quite
famous MGR song, who leads his crew members on a ship and advices them
how to live life with freedom.
> 2) "Naan Aanai Ittal" � Enga Veettu Pillai � Again a famous
MGR song where he will blast the "Zamindars" or "Land-lords" with his
belt and warns them that he is the "savoir" for poor people from
sorrow.

> 6) Bhayanakam � Fearful

> This type of theme will normally be in thriller/
horror movies. I guess ARR should do a couple of thriller/horror
movies to set his trend in that area too. Others have quite some
examples on their hand. Here are they:

> 1) After searching my mind for a long time I found an example. Re-
recordings in "Roja" when the hero (Arvind Sami) gets kidnapped and
when he escapes from terrorists are examples of thriller musics by
Rahman (to some extent). But I doubt there is ever a "horror" music by
ARR!

> 1) "Nooravathu Naal" - Re-recordings - An excellent box-office
thriller!
> 2) Suspense thrillers - "Sigappu Rojakkal" & "Tik Tik Tik" - Re-
recordings - Mile stones in Kamal Hassans career.

> 1) "Nenjam Marappadhillai" - A thriller movie from one of the
successful combinations in the Tamil film industry - ace Director
Sridhar and MSV. The famous song "Nenjam Marappadhillai" is from this
film. The re-recordings will really fill you in fear.
> 2) "Pudhiya Paravai"- Title music and re-recordings. A suspense
thriller from Shivaji and a musical mega hit from MSV.

> 7) Bhibatsam � Disgust
>
> This is a theme which expresses "disgust". The following are some
examples:

> 1) "Punnayil Theemooti" - A small track from Jeans but expresses
big "disgust", when the hero (Prashanth) loses his love.
> 2) "Vennilaavin Therileri" - Duet - The hero (Prabhu) sings in a
great frustration, thinking about his brother and his lover.
> 3) "Sithathinaal Enathu" � Duet � A strong poetry recited with
disgust.
> 4) Gentleman - Re-recording - The police in the film (Saran Raj)
gets his hair on his head shaved, when he fails to catch the smuggler
at a place called "Palani". I feel this piece is one of the greatest
trend-sets in re-recordings by ARR. I still remember how I wondered at
this music when I heard for the first time!!!!

> 1) "Ullukkulla Chakkaravarthy" � Panakkaran � Hero
(Rajni) sings in a great distress that he does not know about his
parents
> 2) "Naanoru Sindhu" � Sindhu Bhairavi � Here Suhasini
sings with disgust (but will seem happy to others) that she is not
able to call her mother as "Amma" due to circumstances.

> MSV:
> 1) "Satti Suttathada" � Aalaya Mani � Sivaji singing in a
great disgust in the film. Famous sober number
> 2) "Ponaal Pogattum poda" � Paalum Pazhamum � Sivaji
singing in an extreme disgust after the loss of his wife.

> 8) Adbutham � Wonder

> Any music from ARR is "Adbudam"!!!. For this category lyrics also
play an important part as it describes on what "entity" does the song
wonder at. Some of the numbers under this category can be:

natures' beautiful creations. The highlight of the song, as you all
know, is it will be shot in all the "Wonders of the World"

the beauty of his love
> 3) "Putham Puthu Boomi" � Thiruda Thiruda � Each and
every line of this song is beautiful exaggeration by Vairamuthu, which
hopes great wonders should happen to this earth! What a "wonderful"
music!!!
> 4) "Vandhey Maatharam" � Wondering and saluting Mother
India. What other example one will require, more than this?

> 1) "Malayala Karai Oram" � Rajathi Raja � An American
return to India (Rajni) wonders at the nature and sings a pleasant
song
> 2) Idhu Oru Pon Maalai � Nizhalgal � A song that Admires
and Wonders nature. Note that this is the first movie, Vairamuthu pens
a song for a Tamil film.!

> MSV:
> 1) Pudhiya Vaanam � Anbe Vaa � In this song, MGR Admires
the beauties of Kashmir
> 2) "Alla Alla" � A sensational hit of those times sung by
MSV himself! This song wonders at the powers of Allah.

> 9) Shantam � Peace
>
> Songs which hopes for world peace (or) which makes your mind
peaceful can be under this category. Note that the devotional music by
each of the musicians can also be under this category.

> ARR:
> 1) "Vellai pookkal" � First and Best song which hopes for
world peace. "Vidiyum Bhoomi Amaithikkaga Vadigavey" (Let the Dawn
bring peace). This line speaks for the entire song. That too sung by
ARR!!!
> 2) Baba Theme � A good rendition by Srinivas and a great
music by ARR. It will take you directly to Himalayas! Baba re-
recording at many places will be so soothing and peaceful.
> 3) Rahman's number for Nokia (to eradicate poverty) which is
going to come in near future can be pulled under this.
> 4) Bombay theme (Climax) - when everyone drops their
weapons and join hands. What a master piece that is!

> 1) "Janani Janani" � Sung by Raja himself. Quite famous
devotional number from him.
> 2) His album on Ramana Maharishi.

> MSV:
> 1) "Ayiram Karangal Neetti" � Karnan - One of the best
numbers from MSVs music. This one is a divine number sung by many
singers like TMS, PBSrinivas and Seerghazhi Govindarajan. This is a
song on Sun God.
> 2) "Kettathum Koduppavaney Krishna" � Dheiva Magan � A
beautiful devotional number on Lord Krishna.

> Hasya - Comedy:

> Of all the Rasas above, comedy should be the most difficult, as it
goes with the saying "It is easy to make people cry; But it is very
difficult to make people laugh". I guess ARR has a very very less
track history of Comedy music (If I'm not wrong). I think the
producers and ARR himself should think about this and our Boss should
get more opportunities for Comedy films. Am sure our Boss will set a
new trend in Comedy music too, breaking all the conventions!!! So let
us hope for more such films for our Boss in future.

> But, as anyone will argue, Thenali is a Comedy film. Agreed! But
the scope for "Real Comedy Music" is less, I feel.

> 1) For instance take Karagattakkaran as example. When one
thinks about Senthil and Gownda Mani (comedians) in the movie, the
famous re-recording for that scene will come to the mind and one will
definitely start laughing.

Vittu Ooru Vandhu" (in Shanmugapriya Raag) which is a hilarious song,
giving some advices to the hero.

> 4) "Kandu Pidichen" � from Guru Sishyan � is a song
where Rajni will pull the leg of Prabhu for dreaming about his lover.

> Comedy includes "Nakkal", "Kindal", "Nayyandi" etc (Pulling legs,
making fun etc) Still we can try and give examples from our Boss's
music.

> 1) Odakkara Maarimuthu � Indra;
> 2) Madrasa Suthi Pakka Poren � May Madham
> 3) Edhukku Pondatti � Kizhakku Seemayile (Lyrics a bit
vulgar, yet its ok)

> These three songs can be as an example, but they are not complete
comedy music.

> Let us take MSVs contribution to this type of music. He has a wide
range of comedy music from his part.
>
> 1) "Thillu Mullu" � song from "Thillu Mullu". The film
itself is a all-time comedy favorite from K.Balachander.
> 2) "Muthu Kulikka Vaareegala", "Kaasikku Pogum Sanyasi" �
folkish comedy numbers, which were very famous when released and even
now. Nagesh's Acting on these songs is commendable and hilarious
adding to the music.
> 3) "Kaase Thaan Kadavulada" � Another full-time comedy
film with so much scope for music. It starred "Thengai" Sreenivasan
and Srikanth
> 4) "Kaadhalikka Neramillai" - first ever full time comedy
movie in Tamil film industry. Another film from the Director Sridhar-
MSV combination.

> So I wish our Boss gets a couple of full-time Comedy & Horror
movies and set a new trend in these areas. Let the world know enjoy
and experience these style(s) of music by our Boss.
