The 13th Annual Screen awards were given away in Mumbai on the 6th of January and the winners list gave many a reason to celebrate. There were no surprises for the best part of the awards night, but there were one or two awards that went contrary to expectations.
Best Movie: No surprises. There were only two real contenders. Rang De Basanti and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Lage Raho Munna Bhai walked away with the honors. It must have been really unfair for Sanjay Dutt to have to walk away empty handed after his wonderful performance in Lage Raho Munna Bhai; he received a Critics Special award. So did Ayesha Takia for her role in Dor. Siddharth registered his presence with an award for the most promising male newcomer. Kangana Ranaut was given the most promising female newcomer for Gangster and Woh Lamhe. The disappointments of the night: Aamir Khan left high and dry after a wonderful 2006 and the Bacchhans totally absent from the awards list.
