Hi Durba,

I may be completely wrong here, but it could just be a set that was
put up for the song. Sabu Cyril put up a lot of wonderful sets set in
Sri Lanka in studios and on location in Kerala, and IIRC, there was
little (or maybe even no) shooting in Sri Lanka. Knowing Mani Ratnam's
penchant for carefully shooting near water(falls) , this is more
likely to have happened in India.
I did a quick little web search and retrieved
http://rajeevsnair.blogspot.com/2005/10/artist-interview-art-director-sabu.html.
This has a reference to "huge Buddha statues placed strategically on
the Chalakkudy waterfalls in neighbouring Kerala."

Maybe some of the Sri Lankan members on this group can confirm if such
a location exists and if yes, whether the song was shot on location.

Cheers,
Ramanand
