Priyadarshan to direct award film
- 04.05.2007
After Mani Ratnam, the one director from South who has made a name for
himself in Bollywood is Priyadarshan. He is a Malayali but spends most
of his time in Chennai.

After surmounting many hassles, he finally completed the Hindi re-make
of 'Manichitrathaazh' that is to be released soon. In June, he will
start directing a Tamil film.

Priyadarshan has always felt a bit regretful that despite being a
director for many years, he has not won any big award. To achieve this
dream, he has announced that he is soon to direct a film that will be
screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film will depict the life of the weavers of Kanchipuram.
Priyadarshan calls it his dream film and it will feature Prakashraj in
an important role. This film is aimed at entering for an award contest
and he will soon announce the details formally.

(For the past 10 years, lyricist Na Muthukumar has been scaring us that
he is going to write a novel on these Kanchi weavers. Hope
Priyadarshan's film does not go the same way!)
