Hi Neena,

Yeah, you are right, we can only wonder... maybe he composes the song keeping
rafi in mind & sonu is the closest voice he can find... only he knows... I
remember him saying in one interview that he misses rafi jee's voice the most...

Infact I googled for that interview n' here it is:

Q - Is there a lacuna in the music scene?

a r r - The lack of an extraordinary male voice.

Q - What is your definition of extraordinary?

a r r - Like Mohammed Rafi. Not that Shankar (Mahadevan) and Sonu (Nigam)
aren't good
but one looks for a timeless voice.

  Btw, you a Rafi fan??

            Hi Vishwesh

I found the same for this song and also for 'do kadam' from Meenaxi. May be
deep down in ARR's subconsious ARR and Mohd Rafi connect I don't expect ARR
to ask Sonu to sing in Rafi's style. It is also possible that Sonu who is/was
heavily influenced by Mohd Rafi (considered to be his clone) may subconsiously
be thinking of Mohd Rafi whilst singing these songs! Who knows? We can wonder
though.
For the next question about the combination of ARR and Mohd Rafi ... well
without doubt it would have been the best thing ever for bollywood soundtracks
composed by ARR and sung by Mohd Rafi. but alas.....

Mere khwaabon ke iss gulistaan mein,
Tumse hee toh bahaar chhaayi hai,
Phoolon mein rang mere the lekin,
Inn mein khushboo tumhee se aayi hai...

Everytime I listen Sonu reciting these lines, it reminds me so much of the
great Rafi saheb...

I sometimes try to imagine... what wonders a r r would have created with the
power of Rafi jee's voice...
