Hi,

Dolby digital is encoded at 384kbps ...whereas dts is encoded usually above
1400kbps......this is the basic difference between the two... For a normal
ear its tough to pinpoint the difference between the two eventhough there is
a large difference in bit rate......the notable difference which you can
feel is the low frequencies getting a bit distorted in dolby digital
compared to dts at higher amplitudes......


Now Dolby NR is noise reduction technique used to remove noise from mono and
stereo sources in the 80s and 90s when there was a lot of cassettes which
gets noisy ( due to fungus, dust and wear and tear). Sources like cds, dvds
and other digital sources doesnt require Dolby NR.
