I think shivamani was brought into films by K.V.Mahedevan. he himself
mentioned  it in an interview in which he says "my father used to work under
K.V.Mahadevan and it was where i started learning at the age of about 7 or
8."   Then the real break was given by illayaraja .

            Hi!

I am not trying to stir a controversy here abut i am just bring out my natural
reaction, as an observation.

Was it really Rahman who brought Sivamani into films? i doubt so. I think it
was SPB.  or KVM. or even Ilaiyaraaja. Although he mentioned the former two
names, i am surprised Sivamani forgot to mention ilaiyaraaja there. afterall,
Sivamani was with IR. it is not sure who brough Sivamani into films, i think it
could be SPB. Sivamani infact acted as a negro drummer in a Telugu film, way
back in early 80s, for which SPB composed music. So it could be SPB.

It would been appropriate if he had credited Rahman for market-visibility,
rather than just entry into films.

Hai all,

"Rahman brought me to films : I remember it was a rainy evening, with
Dilip (A R Rahman) and I sipping coffee. We were at his studio and I
started playing on the spiral drums. All of a sudden, he said: `why
don't you work with me?' Everything happened so fast that my
first recording for Roja was completed without my being aware of it.
Dilip just switched on the recording machine while I played.I feel proud
of myself : I have worked with Zakir Hussain, Louis Banks, Karl Peters,
Shankar Mahadevan, Andrew Lloyd Webber, James Asher and Steven Segal. I
have even formed a band called Silk. But if I am really close to anyone,
it is S P Balasubramaniam, who is my godfather; Louis Banks; and A R
Rahman, a childhood friend and my composer in Roja, Rangeela, Taal and
Lagaan."
