Vishal Shekhar havn't had a 'great' year, they were good no doubt, but nothing that was apart from what they usually do, and nothing at all that would make you go 'WOW'. Tashan was very good album, and one of 'their' best, Bachna Ae haseeno was again good, dostana was again good. If you'd jumble all of their songs, you could put it in any movie they'd done. It's all of the same type. A song from Tashan would well have been in BAE or Dostana and vice-versa. But you can't put a 'Pappu can't dance salla' in JA, hence I feel Rahman had experimented a lot this year and most of them have worked well! De taali and Bhootnath didn't work at all and Bhootnath in particular was bad.
My composer of the year has to AR, more so because he's delivered in almost all albums. Every album has a *minimum* of 3 songs which are exceptional. My second choice could be SEL, ROCK ON!! is very good, even though 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' was a disappointment. Actually none but Rahman deserves it, for none of his competitors have done even half as brilliant job as he has. - Too long a post I guess...;) --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, Vithur <vith...@...> wrote: > > Milliblog Annual Music Round-up 2008 > > Annual music round-ups are getting increasingly difficult.
