I am afraid Connections will be "lost" (pun intended) in the huge success of Delhi 6 & SDM.
Connections, I am sure is unlikely to get good reviews with phrases like 'experimental" and 'non-commercial' thrown in to describe it. I too agree that it is blasphemous to churn out an instant review for an album as serious as this. One has to sit in a dark room with their eyes closed & ears open to "connect" to it. I do understand if listeners/critics neither have the time nor the inclination and are free to express their quick thoughts. But then it is their loss.Connections mind you is for the serious music lovers only who have the patience and time to soak in tracks like Silent Invocations or Man Chandre. For the rest looking for instant gratification & trendy tunes Connections will be too slow. Personally, I thought Delhi-6 will be on an endless play loop little did I expect Connections to hijack it so quickly. ARR has been on a dream run taking hardcore fans like me on his magic carpet ride. I just don't want to wake up :-) ________________________________ From: Chord <purev...@yahoo.com> To: arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2009 11:12:25 AM Subject: [arr] My strong thoughts on Connections This is a piece of art that is simply unmatched and unparalelled in its purity and divine beauty. To me, this is ARR totally unleashed, totally unrestrained, totally revealing his heart and soul. Rahman and his music are a GIFT from God. The compositional pieces in this album are very meditative, classical, delicate, exquisite, mesmerizing, haunting, moving. Actually, you cannot use mere words to describe an album like this. It's not an album to be described, it's an album to be experienced and cherished for eons. I am saddened by the botched up way this album has leaked out and already received reviews. ARR has poured his heart and soul into this one without any constraints and a review like the one from Karthik's milliblog, just glossing over the album without a second thought, even skipping some tracks, to me is almost disrespectful to an album as divine as this. Now, I know Karthik didn't mean to sound disrespectful; he's just providing his opinion based on a cursory listen. And this is only my opinion. Yes, it's a commercial album so reviews will be there. But beyond the commercial packaging, this is a collection of musical expressions straight from the heart and soul that should not be subjected to a 100 word review IMHO. I wish this CD could have a proper release. It should release sooner than later to minimize the effects of piracy. You just don't hear an album as pure as this anywhere. Yes, I too have listened online, but I plan to buy multiple copies of this CD (for family and friends) once it releases. Piracy is bad, but esp. for an album as devotional and divine as this one, it's really sad. Listening to parts of Connections had my eyes watering up at times. After listening to the tracks, I felt that my mind, heart and soul were cleansed. I carry these melodies with me all day and listening to a divine album like this only reaffirms my faith in the goodness that surrounds us and the divinity that is within us. I can't believe how simply pure this album sounds and to me this album more than any other album from the past, reveals ARR's spirit, his divine innocence and his strong connection to God. When you buy this CD, cherish it. Experience the divinity within it. What a gift from ARR. I BOW TO THEE!!!!!!!
