Victory begets victory. No other statement can be more befitting for Danny
Boyle's 'Slumdog Millionaire' which is having an incredible run at Award
Ceremonies. The latest feathers to adorn themselves on the film's cap are
three British Awards – the Attenborough British Film of the Year, British
Director of the Year for Danny Boyle and the Best Screenplay Award for Simon
Beaufoy. Dev Patel however lost out narrowly to Mickey Rourke who starred in
'The Wrestler'.

These victories come soon after the film won many American Guild Awards.

The Oscars are just a few weeks away and the magical run that 'Slumdog
Millionaire' is experiencing makes it the firm favorite at the prestigious
Oscars. This weekend would hold more decisive moments as BAFTA gets
underway. The film has been nominated in 11 categories and is expected to do
very well. A. R. Rahman and Dev Patel also feature in the nominations.

Come February 22 (23rd morning in India) and the cat will be out of the bag.
The journey that Slumdog is taking and the way India is closely monitoring
it is the first of its kind. In more ways than one, Indian talent is on
showcase for the entire globe to see.

Let's hope many Indian directors can take off from where 'Slumdog
Millionaire' leaves such that good Indian Cinema gets its due recognition
all over the world. Hope the Mani Ratnams, Rajkumar Hiranis, Shankars,
Sanjay Leela Bhansalis, Balas and the like are listening.
