The much-hyped `authorised biography' on AR Rahman titled AR Rahman: The
Musical Storm has hit a sour note even before its release.

The book by Kamini Mathai has been widely hyped and marketed as the `first
authorised biography' on the `Mozart of Madras.'

However, the desi Mozart is neither flattered nor amused. He very clearly
states that there's nothing authorised about it. Says Rahman, "The claim that
it's an authorised biography is wrong."

According to sources close to Rahman, the musician is not amused by various
attempts to cash in on his global fame.

Says a close friend of Rahman, "Though Rahman is oblivious to the outside world
and doesn't understand the commercial aspects of his superstardom, he isn't
oblivious to the `Cash in on Rahman' factory that flourishes far and wide."

As far as a biography is concerned, Rahman plans to write his own story. So the
question of authorising a biography doesn't arise. And that is that.
